Amity Blight Fandom

amity owl house

While Luz and Amity may have their fair share of witchy angst, the sweetness of the love between them and their stumbling way of expressing it is relatable for kids just beginning to have crushes. Rather than make young queer viewers feel ashamed or like the world will reject them for their feelings, The Owl House presents a found family full of love, acceptance, and happiness. Coming out is never a concern for Luz or Amity, with Amity more concerned about dating a human than dating a girl. Their sexualities are simply a part of them and the least interesting aspect of their romance. It’s the same kind of first crush storyline nearly every Disney Channel series has included, but with two comfortably queer characters. While storylines like Cyrus’ coming out on Andi Mack are incredibly important for kids to see since they take place in our world, it’s also nice for them to have examples of uncomplicated, magical queer joy.

Edric and Emira Blight

Luz brushes it off as she goes to speak with Philip while Lilith tries to open the door. Luz sees Philip writing about their current exploits and is disturbed when he writes about his companions' deaths. Just then, Lilith opens the door and is pulled inside as Philip says he needed a sacrifice. Upon traveling back in time, they don disguises to better blend in with the populace, with Luz utilizing a medieval helmet to hide her ears.

Principal Bump

This comes to a boiling point when both their attempts to stop the Guard Captain cancel each other out, with Willow becoming frustrated with Amity's constant attempts to protect her. When Amity tells Willow that she's doing it because she just got her back as a friend, Willow says that she wants Amity to see her for who she really is. In "Follies at the Coven Day Parade", Amity decides to visit Willow in order to ask for advice. When Willow offers to give her advice in exchange for Amity braiding her hair, Amity expresses how glad she is that the two of them can actually start to be friends again. In "King's Tide", Amity is shown to become increasingly worried about Luz while the group is on the airship, contributing to everyone becoming stressed and at each other's throats. Later, when the group starts running to the portal door as the Collector starts destroying the Head of the Titan, Amity tearfully asks Luz to stay with them, worried that she won't make it if she tries to go back for Eda and the others.

In the morning, Luz sits in during a meeting with the CATs as they decide the best way to stop the Draining Spell is to use Eda's curse to disrupt the spell by having her sneak into the ceremony masquerading as Raine and be branded with a bard sigil, to which Eda agrees. After the meeting, Eda gives Luz her newly carved palisman, an egg, and Luz explains she wanted her palisman to choose their own form. She questions if Eda is really okay with the plan, to which Eda says not really but she thinks it is the best chance they have at stopping the Draining Spell. As they get ready to head out, Luz and King hug Eda goodbye and she makes Raine promise to watch out for Eda.

However, after Willow vouches for him upon hearing about the breathing technique Gus taught him, Amity doesn't object to him helping to save Gus and take back the school. Later, Amity, like the others, starts to become worried when Hunter starts to tell them the truth about the Day of Unity. Skara seems to be fond of Amity and is somewhat nicer than Boscha despite the feeling not being mutual. When Skara asked Amity about her history with Willow in "Understanding Willow", Amity threatened to end her friendship with both her and Boscha if they kept pressing the issue, suggesting she simply doesn't care about them. It is later revealed that, like Boscha, Skara is only friends with Amity because their parents work with each other, and Amity never really liked her from the beginning. While not explicitly shown, it could be assumed that she severed her relationship with Skara after cutting ties with Boscha, but both do not appear to be enemies.

As she continues to avoid the subject, a pink monster appears to haunt the two, with the monster revealing itself to be Inner Willow, who reveals to be burning all of Willow's memories where Amity is. This was demonstrated when she appalled and ashamed when Lilith had unknowingly caused her to cheat during her Witch's Duel with Luz at the Covention, showing that she wishes to succeed based on the validation of her tireless effort. Though initially stern and cynical towards those her own age, Amity was extremely sweet and patient towards smaller children, with her enjoying reading to them as part of her job at the Bonesborough Library. Additionally, it was revealed in "Lost in Language" that like Luz, Amity is a fan of the Good Witch Azura book series, which served as an important factor in their eventual friendship.

Afterward, The Collector brings her, Lilith, and Camila to The Owl House and she and Luz share a kiss. Shortly before The Collector leaves to go soul searching in the stars, she speaks with him. A fight breaks out that results in Hunter being taken by Kikimora and Alador destroying the factory and all their inventory.

Arriving in the Boiling Isles

Amity Blight (voiced by Mae Whitman) is a student at Hexside; she is an abomination expert and works part-time at the Bonesborough Library. Initially, she appears to be an petty and cold-hearted top student, who bullies those she feels are inferior to her. This leads Luz to challenge her to a witches' duel, which will determine whether Luz will continue witch training. However, when Amity is exposed of cheating on Lilith's part, she runs off and lashes out at Luz, accusing her for humiliating her in front of the Emperor's Coven and embarrassing her at school, while lamenting how much pressure she puts on herself to be the best. However, she is surprised when Luz shows kindness while trying to comfort her and allows her to continue magic training.[25] Despite still acting hostile towards Luz, Amity slowly begins to show a sentimental side and claims she is trying to understand Luz. Eventually, she starts to become fascinated with her desire to be genuine friends, and after a night of peril with her at the library, they make up and bond over their shared love of The Good Witch Azura.

During the journey to Eclipse Lake, he, like Eda, is shown to be annoyed by Amity's constant attempts to prove herself to Luz. Later, when Amity is shown worrying about the messages that Luz had been sending her that day, King turns the game device on its side to show Amity that the messages aren't as threatening as she and Hunter had made them out to be. Later, upon returning to the Owl House, King becomes jealous of Amity when Luz hugs her first, calling her a swindler and a thief, but later regrets this when Luz hugs him. In "Wing It Like Witches", she decides to cut ties with Boscha and side with Luz and Willow. After Amity stands with Luz and Willow against her in a grudgby game, Boscha tells her "[she's] just destroyed her social life".

In the opening of "Watching and Dreaming", Amity briefly protected Luz from the rumbling caused by the Collector. Later on, Amity was snapped out of her puppet trance and she encouraged Luz not to give up and even handed her a light glyph to help her escape the dream world. When she and the others snapped out of their trance, Amity was worried for Luz as she wasn't with them, this continued even after Camila was free from her puppet form. Amity ran up to her and hugged her affectionately, and the two kissed on the lips once more.

Unbeknownst to them, Belos has slowly been gaining influencing over Hunter, who has Flapjack snatch the map so he and Luz could use it to find the Titan's Blood, but they get separated long enough for Belos to gain full control of Hunter's body. When the rest of the Hexside squad arrive, Belos reveals to them how Luz helped him find the Collector before attacking them. During the fight, Amity saves Vee from Belos before he knocks Amity, Willow, and Gus off of their staffs, throws Luz at them, and finally wounds Flapjack. After Amity and her friends are effectively stranded in the Human Realm by King, they head to Luz's house where Luz reunites with her mother, who takes them all in. Over the next few months, Amity amd her friends work on making another portal back to the Boiling Isles, to no avail, while at the same time adapt to life in the Human Realm.

Luz immediately chases after her, while Alador remains standing on the spot, looking stunned. Back at the venue, another round of brawling begins, with Luz (as "The Spellraiser") facing down her opponent, the Flexicutioner. In the next round, after a tough battle, Amity manages to defeat her foe via abomination goo. Not wanting to hurt her, she activates some smoke glyphs and escorts her off the stage.
